About us

CultureSurfer.com is an arts and culture website that was launched in September 2007. The mission of the website is to showcase St. Louis talent through video and photography. But we aren't highbrow, and we aren't typical. . We cover talent and culture that has fallen through the cracks, and we love covering "culture with an attitude." You should be surprised by much of what you see here because we cover what mainstream media doesn't cover.

The videos featured on the site showcases a wide array of content. These videos focus Art, Cinema & Theater, Music, Literature, Fashion, and Dance. Many of our videos highlight St. Louis's Bosnian, Latin, Asian, and African cultures. Because new videos are uploaded onto the site on a weekly basis, there is a constant supply of new content on a consistent basis. CultureSurfer.com has produced more than 700 videos right here in St. Louis.

The people behind CultureSurfer.com
Staff
Naomi Silver Naomi Silver, President and founder of CultureSurfer, LLC
CultureSurfer.com was created by St. Louis native, Naomi Silver. Her appreciation of the diverse cultures in her hometown, as well as her interest in the arts and culture, encouraged her to share her experiences through online video.
Naomi grew up in St. Louis, Missouri & has been fascinated by different cultures since she was young. Her degree is in History and Russian Area studies, she has studied 6 languages, loves to travel, and is proficient in French. She became familiar with various ethnic communities in St. Louis during work on two national-level political campaigns. Naomi works full-time (and then some) on her two sites, CultureSurfer.com and STLbikegeek.com, as an interviewer, producer, editor, videographer, web mistress, and tech wanna-be.

Naomi was honored as a Woman Leader of Culture at a local International Woman's Day event and participated on a panel discussing diversity in the St. Louis area at Belas Artes multicultural gallery. Naomi 's CultureSurfer blog was chosen out of more than 300,000 bloggers as Member of the Week on MyOpera.com. Naomi servies on the advisory boards of Cinema St. Louis and the Institute for Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
